UPPER DIR: Terrorists attacked a border check post located in the Pak-Afghan area of Dir, CNBC reports Friday.
According to the Pak Army sources, the saboteurs, launching attack from Afghanistan over the Pak-Afghan border, opened heavy gunfire at the check post situated in Upper Dir.
The prompt retaliatory action by the Pakistani side left six terrorists dead.
It is pertinent to note here that a couple of days ago, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani protested with ISAF and NATO commander General John Allen over the cross-border infiltrations and attacks through Afghan area of Kunar, the safe havens for Swat’s fugitives in Afghanistan.
Briefing on the meeting between the top military officers, a Pak Army official said, "We also raised the issue of cross-border attacks on the Pakistan military from Afghanistan. We demanded that ISAF take action against the militant sanctuaries in Afghanistan and eliminate the militant groups involved in cross-border attacks inside Pakistan." CNBC
