ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh Saturday claimed that the rate of growth increased during the four years of this government led by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Giving vent to his pent-up emotions pooled up during the budget session mayhem by the opposition members, he said the government offered an ideal budget despite an economic meltdown worldwide.
In a post-budget news conference, the federal minister announced glad tidings with regard to the resolution of the power crisis and said the government is going to invest in this sector.
The finance minister Sheikh said previously Rs.5000 had to be paid against a monthly income of Rs.50,000; but now, one will have to give away only Rs.1500.
Claiming that the rate of progress speeded up during the four-year tenure of this government, Hafeez Sheikh noted the dearness rate tapered off as well, adding 20 percent additional money has been apportioned for the development projects in this budget.
The Prime Minister House will be turned into a higher education institution, he added saying Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will shift to a small house. CNBC
