KARACHI: A shop owner was gunned down by unknown assailants in Karachi on Thursday, prompting protest demonstrations on M.A Jinnah Road and causing severe traffic mess, CNBC reports.
Police said unidentified gunmen, riding a motorbike, entered Tibet Center market and opened fire on auto part shop owner, Sohail.
They said the trader was killed on the spot while the attacker managed to flee from the scene within the remits of Preedy Police station, not more than 30 meters from the murder site.
Police cited money extortion as a reason behind the murder.
Later, hundreds of market shopkeepers gathered at M.A Jinnah Road and staged protest demonstration there, burning tyres and chanting anti-government slogans, causing severe traffic jam for few hours. --- CNBC
