KARACHI: The ongoing violence in the city pushed today’s death toll up to eight including a political activist; also, a hand grenade was found from Old Sabzi Mandi which police neutralized.
A 45-year man, Yawar Mehdi was targeted in Nazimabad-3 when he slowed down his car over a speed-breaker. His body was brought to the morgue of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, according to SHO Nazimabad Shahid.
A 28-year-old man Arsalan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khokhrapar, Malir early this morning. Police sources said that the deceased was an activist of a political party.
A tortured dead body of a 25-year-old man was found from Manghopir area. He was not identified as yet. Ahteshamul Haq, 32, was shot dead in a firing incident in Surjani Town.
Tension prevailed in New Karachi sector 5-G as the funeral prayers of slain Jamat-i-Islami member Abdul Rasheed will be observed today.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Amir Muhammed Hussain Mehanti led the funeral prayers for the eteral peace of the party’s activist Abdur Rasheed Farooqi.
Mehanti said there is nothing like governance in the metropolis.
Heavy contingent of police and rangers have been deployed in tension hit area.
A house in PIB Colony was attacked with a hand grenade which destroyed the windowpanes of the house.
Meantime, the Rangers conducted targeted operations in three different areas of Lyari. According to spokesman, at least 12 miscreants were arrested and firearms including hand grenades were recovered from their possession. CNBC
