KARACHI: One of the foremost heroes of Pakistani films Santosh Kumar is being remembered on his death anniversary today (Monday).

Santosh Kumar’s real name was Syed Musa Raza. He was born in 1925 at Lahore. He belonged to a well educated family from Uttar Pradesh, India.

His brother Darpan was also a renowned film actor while his other brother S. Suleman was a prominent film director.

'Beli' was his first film as a hero in Pakistan, which released in 1950.

He went from professional strength to strength and for the next decade and a half, became the most dependable leading man of Urdu films in Pakistan.

He formed an immensely successful screen pair with Sabiha Khanum and the two went on to marry in 1957.

From the mid 60’s onwards his screen appearances became few and far spaced and he passed away on June 11, 1982.

Santosh Kumar acted in 93 films. CNBC
