ISLAMAABD: The National Security Committee (NSC) of the parliament today expressed its reservations at Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani’s briefing on reopening of NATO supply routes.
Opposition parties also subjected the government to criticism over resumption of NATO supply. The NSC held its meeting at the Parliament House under chair of Senator Raza Rabbani.
Foreign Minister Khar briefed the committee in details about the restoration of the NATO supply.
According to sources, PML-N and JUI-F members raised objections to the government’s decision, saying it has humiliated the parliamentarians by restoring NATO supply without a formal apology. The Parliament had demanded a formal apology, but the United States only gave the impression of a sorry, the members said.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he adopted a strict stance as the government did not consider the parliamentary recommendations.
NSC Chairman Rabbani said the committee has expressed its reservations at some of the issues put forward by the foreign minister.
The committee has immediately suggested some steps to the government, he said. It will meet again on Aug 6 to finalize the recommendations about the missing persons. CNBC
